Went to check the property this morning. I’ve got flooring guys coming out to install new floors this week. I noticed that my feet were making sloshing noises as I walked across the carpet. It was soaking wet. FUCK.
I guess it isn’t too wide of an area, but the fact that something was either leaking (I’m guessing it was the dishwasher) or flooding has me feeling paranoid. I shut the valves off to the kitchen sink for now until I can get in there and determine for sure if it was the hose running to the dishwasher or something more insidious.
All the more distressing considering that I’m scheduled to start my new trucking job this week. Orientation is three weeks, then I’m heading out on the road where I’ll be gone for a week or two at a time. I don’t know when I’ll have time to get in there and fix that leaky hose, or whatever it is.
And then, as if that wasn’t enough to bring me down…..all the rain we’ve had these past few days caused the creek on my property to overflow. Looks like this kitten got caught in the rising water and either froze to death or drowned. (I didn’t notice any bite marks on him.) I found him a few yards from the rushing water on a bit of elevated ground that wasn’t completely submerged.
Bane, the farmer’s dog, gave the poor kitten a sniff then went on his way, sloshing through the flood waters and wagging his tail. On a good note, Bane enjoyed the bones I brought him. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift, but he and his owner weren’t around the last few times I was out there, so he got to enjoy them today.
