29-Jul-2016interesting red and black bug
Happened upon this little guy while I was walking the dogs this afternoon. It looks like some kind of wingless wasp.
Update: My Twitter friend, @devans00, ID’d the bug for me: Dasymutilla occidentalis (Linnaeus)
@koogmo Do you think it could be a red velvet ant? A type of wasp. https://t.co/Hd0amLrrXU

13-Nov-2013Seems it was a painful passing. Rest in peace, gutter squirrel.
22-Jan-2013Was walking home yesterday and came across this guy just sitting there on the sidewalk
Petrified frog? Lizard? Sun-burnt visitor from some distant alien planet?
04-Nov-2012Sometimes you’re the road. Sometimes you’re the roadkill.
When Mother Nature meets technology, it’s usually the critters that suffer. Bad day for wildlife out there on those Texas roads.

Was out walking the dogs and came across this little guy. Looks like he’d been mauled. A patch of skin was torn off his scalp, and there were scrape (or bite) marks all over his body.
